Yesterday afternoon my husband treated me to the most wonderful afternoon. We went to the National Arts Centre in Ottawa to see the broadway production of WICKED. Have you seen it? NO? Oh you must!
If you are a fan of The Wizard of Oz, then I think you will thoroughly enjoy this wonderful musical. Without revealing the plotline, let me just tell you that you'll learn why the wicked witch's skin was green, the significent of the red ruby slippers, about Galinda (Glinda - the "ga" is silent) the good witch and her relationship with the wicked witch, the scarecrow, cowardly lion, tin man, flying monkeys and even the wizard of Oz.
The music and costumes, sets and lighting, choreography and special effects were out of this world amazing.
We were very, VERY fortunate to have 3rd row centre ORCHESTRA seats.
I'm still on cloud nine. I loved the production THAT MUCH! It was wonderful.
So if you enjoy live theatre and have the opportunity to see a production of WICKED, I urge you to go and see it. I know you won't be disappointed.

This is a birthday card for a budding construction worker. Actually, my husband has been helping his son do some home renovations on his house and I think they've both enjoyed the carpenter/apprentice times spent these past several weekends.
The stamp is one of STAMPING BELLA's stamping Fella stamps. I stamped on watercolor paper and used my Prismacolor watercolor pencils for color along with gel pens for the metal tools. I've been using my watercolor pencils a lot more frequently. The Prismacolor watercolor pencils provide vibrant colors just as the more frequently used (by me) colored pencils.
The designer background paper is by K & Company. I bought this sheet years ago knowing that someday I'd need it.
Now for the inside sentiment. I didn't have a stamp with a tool or construction theme so my husband came up with the inside birthday wishes. It is computer generated. Get ready to groan...here is what it says:
Ha haa! It is a groaner but it is fun. Did you catch all of the tool words?
I received some beautiful new stamps from very dear friends for my birthday a few weeks ago and I think I shall ink them up today.

I've been awfully slow about making cards since we lost Bella. My big dog really took our hearts with her and I find it difficult to get the drive to create. Gabe, my Landseer, keeps me company but he too is mourning the loss of his big sister so I guess all of this is to say that we are a couple of sad sacks.
This is a card I made a month or so ago. This stamp is an old, old, old stamp made by Stampendous. I think it is so cute today just as much as years ago when I got it. You probably can't read from the photo but the little bird house says "For WRENT" and the other bird house says "Home TWEET Home". So cute!
Anyway, just wanted to say I haven't been completely lazy...just mostly ......
I've got a lot of new images colored and hope to be posting more cards more regularly.

I have no particular love for the color combination of red and yellow. For some strange reason though, I've been making a lot of tags and cards using these two bright colors together. Hmmmm...
Anyway, I am in my birthday cardmaking mode and this is another card I made. This stamp, made by The Artful Stamper. I stamped it on watercolor paper and embossed with gold detail embossing powder. The image is watercolored with Twinkling H2O's so the candles really sparkle. Then I pop dotted a couple of the dancing candles for dimension and added stickles glitter glue for even more punch.
The "celebrate" sentiment is from Stampin' Up!. Then I decided since it already was full of sparkle, why not put three red "gems" at the top for a little more glitz. This card really sparkles but I'm not a good enough photographer to capture all of its sparkle.
I've got more cards in the making on my table so I'd better get them finished. Thanks for stopping by!

First, I want to thank each one of you who read my blog for the heartfelt words expressed here on my blog as well as cards of sympathy I've received in honor of my dear Bella. You all know that she was more than "just a dog" or "just a pet" to me and your sincerity and kindnesses expressed mean more than you'll ever know. THANK YOU!!
I have so many men in my family that have birthdays in the month of August. I wanted to do something a little different this year so I decided to use this owl stamp that I purchased at HEATHER'S STAMPING HAVEN, in Ottawa. This stamp, as well as the sentiment stamp, are Heather's own design.
I stamped the image on watercolor paper and embossed the image with gold detail embossing powder. Next, I watercolored the image with Tombow markers. Then I added a little stickles glitter to the moon and the tips of the wings.
You know what the hardest thing for me was? I couldn't decide what color(s) to make the owl? I think next time I'll make him grey/white.
I hope the guys like this for their card.
Thanks for stopping by.
