LDS Humanitarian Service Project

I want to share with you today a few little somethin' / somethin's that I made and have sent off to a wonderful lady and blogger, Heather. You can view Heather's blog HERE. Heather's birthday was this month and she decided that she'd like to have a Birthday Service Project. Heather is collecting (and making) items for newborn kits to be sent to LDS Humanitarian Services for distribution to families in third world countries and other areas affected by disasters. You can read more about Heather's Birthday Project HERE.

If you go to the sites linked (above) you can read about what the LDS Humanitarian Service projects in detail. Heather is sending 10 infant kits. Each infant kit will include a layette gown, booties, receiving blankets, diapers, diaper pins, soap and zip lock bags. I chose to make layette gowns.

Each gown is made of 100% cotton knit and 100% cotton ribbing. They are very simple patterns and worked up quickly.

There are so many times when I feel helpless to assist others who are so very greatly in need of basic items for survival and comfort. This project gives the opportunity to reach out and help others and I am glad that Heather brought the LDS Humanitarian Service Projects to our attention.

  2. I'm so grateful that you used your sewing talent to help me help the children who will be blessed by all the items in the kits. I love the fabrics you used. I think the blue flower one is my favorite.
