Haute couture?

I don't think this is really haute couture, but it is my version of HAT COUTURE. I wear hats all the time. I made this one yesterday afternoon in my effort to think spring. I think I will be wearing this as my gardening hat next summer.

Every seamstress has a stash of fabric that we say is aging to perfection. I was digging around in my "stash" of fabrics and I found several large pieces of polished cotton which works great for these simple hats. I think I may make a small tote to match.

Hats can be fast projects. This particular pattern also has some large billed baseball cap styles with a bow in the back to make them a bit more feminine.

  1. OH, Jennifer! I LOVE this hat!! I am a hat girl, too. In the winter I mostly wear a brown felt called the Country Gentleman. I wear lots of ball caps and have a cool one made from hemp that is similar to the style of this gorgeous floral. I'm sporting an old engineer's cap that was my grandfather's in my senior picture, too. No wonder I like your art!
